Graduated at State University of Milan, Italy, Dr. Hayato Kurihara is the Head of the Emergency Surgery and Trauma Unit at Humanitas Research Hospital in Milan and he is Adjunct Professor at Humanitas University. He is in the President Elect of the European Society for Trauma and Emergency Surgery and Vice President of the Italian Society for Emergency Surgery and Trauma he is also Secretary Treasurer of the International Association for Trauma Surgery and Intensive Care.
He is Honorary Fellow of the European Board of Surgery (Emergency Surgery) for UEMS and Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

His main focus regards Acute Care Surgery and Trauma with specific interest in critical and frail patients. He is actively involved in Advanced Medical Simulation and has been focusing on not-technical skills, team working and leadership in surgical environment were communication skills and decision making capacity are essential for the best clinical outcome in stressful scenarios.
