MD from the University of Chile in 1993, studied Surgery and General Thoracic Surgery at the Catholic University of Chile, and continued his studies with a two-year Fellowship at Mayo Clinic Rochester, Minnesota.
Is currently Head of Thoracic Surgery at Clínica Universidad de Los Andes, Santiago, Chile. And Thoracic Surgeon of the University of Chile Clinic Hospital. He is an Assistant Professor at Universidad de Chile, where he is in charge of the Program of Thoracic Surgery and participates in both Postgraduate and Medical School Education at the University of Chile and the University of Los Andes.
He is a member of Multiples International Societies and is currently the President of the Thoracic Surgery Department of the Society of Surgery of Chile.
Dr. Clavero has published multiple peer-reviewed articles in Thoracic Surgery. His primary interest is Thoracic Oncology and Minimally invasive surgery. He has done research in early detection of lung cancer, liquid biopsies, biomarkers in malignant mesothelioma, and minimally invasive thoracic surgery techniques. Current research is applying AI in early detection of lung cancer and the characterization of nodules and VATS segmentectomy for lung cancer
