Dr. Irene Paraboschi is a pediatric surgeon and clinical researcher based in Milan, Italy, currently serving as a Consultant in Pediatric Surgery at the “V. Buzzi” Children’s Hospital and Research Fellow at the University of Milan.
Her clinical and scientific activity focuses on pediatric surgical oncology, pediatric urology, fluorescence-guided surgery, virtual reality-assisted surgical planning, and translational regenerative medicine.
She graduated with honors in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Milan and completed her specialization in Pediatric Surgery at the University of Genoa, where her thesis focused on fluorescence-guided surgery in neuroblastoma. She subsequently obtained a Master’s degree in Biostatistics from the University of Pavia and achieved the Italian National Scientific Qualification as Associate Professor in Surgical Specialities.
Dr. Paraboschi completed several international fellowships in the United Kingdom, including positions at University College London, the Institute of Cancer Research, the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, and Evelina London Children’s Hospital. These experiences strengthened her expertise in innovative imaging technologies, minimally invasive surgery, pediatric oncology, and translational surgical research.
Her research activity has been centered on the development of advanced technologies for pediatric surgery, including fluorescence-guided surgery, nanoparticle-based imaging probes, virtual reality platforms for surgical planning, organoids and neurospheres for translational oncology, and regenerative medicine approaches for congenital and inflammatory gastrointestinal diseases. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and book chapters in leading international journals and has presented her work at major international pediatric surgery and pediatric urology congresses.
Dr. Paraboschi actively collaborates with several internationally renowned institutions and researchers across Europe and North America. She serves as reviewer for multiple scientific journals and is actively involved in international scientific societies, including the European Society for Pediatric Urology (ESPU) and the European Paediatric Surgeons’ Association (EUPSA).
Throughout her career, she has received multiple national and international awards recognizing her contributions to pediatric surgery, surgical innovation, and academic research.
