Michael Bouvet, MD is a surgical oncologist with a practice which focuses on surgery for endocrine and GI malignancies. Dr. Bouvet’s laboratory has developed fluorophore conjugated antibodies for fluorescence-guided surgery of GI cancers. Fluorescence-guided surgery allows the surgeon to obtain more complete resections by more accurately visualizing tumor margins in the operating room. This field is currently accelerating at a rapid pace with the advent of fluorescence laparoscopy and fluorescence-guided robotic surgery that is now available for clinical use. Dr Bouvet has published over 450 papers that have been cited over 20,000 times. He also received an ACS Research Scholar Grant (2005-2009). His research has been continuously supported by grants from the NCI and VA for the last 20 years.
