Dr. Paola De Nardi received her medical degree from the University of Milan, Italy, in 1986. She then completed her general surgery residency at the San Raffaele Scientific Institute/University of Milan, in 1991. From 1989 to 1993, she was a Research fellow at the General Surgery Unit of the San Raffaele Scientific Institute and conducted a clinical research on radio-immuno-guided surgery for colorectal tumors. She has been part of the Board of Directors of the Italian Society of Colorectal Surgery (SICCR) from in 2005-2007 and 2009-2011 and was Vice President from 2013 to 2015, 2017-2019, 2021-present. She is also member of the Scientific Committee of the Continence Italian Foundation, of the Italian Society of Surgery, the Italian Society of Surgical Oncology and the European Society of Coloproctology and a Fellow of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. She has been member of the Lower GI Expert Panel for the AJCC Cancer Staging System, 8th Edition for the following disease sites: anus, appendix carcinoma, colon and rectum. Her major areas of interest include colorectal cancer, diverticulitis, fecal incontinence, and functional ano-rectal disorders. She is presently a Senior Consultant of the Colorectal Unit in the Gastrointestinal Surgery Department of the San Raffaele Scientific Institute in Milan and contract Professor of Surgery at Vita-Salute University in Milan. She authored/co-authored more than 135 reviewed articles.
